Dentures

Dr. Eck can help patients who have suffered multiple or complete tooth loss due to periodontal disease, injury, or other factors, with full or partial dentures. Dr. Eck offers dentures custom matched to the patient's facial structure and coloring. However, because extended use of dentures can lead to bone loss, tissue damage, and other serious problems, Dr. Eck does not recommend dentures as a long-term solution for tooth loss. There is a healthy, permanent solution to tooth loss that offers several advantages over dentures. Naples and Fort Myers patients who have suffered tooth loss may wish to consider dental implants to permanently replace missing teeth. Implants offer an effective way to replace teeth and preserve bone structure. Porcelain crowns atop dental implants look and feel completely natural, and they have none of the maintenance issues that are such a bother with dentures. Read more about our dental implant solutions and their benefits on our website; then contact us today to schedule an informative consultation with Dr. Eck.

Laser Dentistry and LANAP™

Dental procedures and techniques have advanced greatly in the twenty-first century thanks in part to laser dentistry. Naples and Fort Myers residents now have this high-tech option for treating gum disease. Dr. Eck is proud to offerLaser Gum Therapy using the Millennium PerioLase® Laser, the only laser that has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of periodontal disease. With the PerioLase® Laser, Dr. Eck provides his patients "no cut – no sew – no fear" periodontal therapy that requires no incisions or sutures.

LANAP™

LANAP™ (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) is the laser dentistry option for our Naples and Fort Myers patients who need periodontal treatment. Traditional gum surgery can involve great pain, multiple treatments, and can leave patients with severe gum recession and unsightly long teeth. Now with LANAP™, Dr. Eck uses the Millennium PerioLase® Laser to treat gum disease without the side effects of traditional gum surgery.

Dr. Eck performs LANAP™ by first using a perio probe to find excessive pocket depth between the gum and tooth root. By doing this, he can determine where gum disease has infiltrated. Dr. Eck then uses the PerioLase® Laser's precise beam to kill bacteria and diseased tissue wherever periodontal disease exists. Then with an ultrasonic scaler and special hand instruments, he carefully removes root surface deposits. Next, Dr. Eck uses the laser to finish cleaning the pocket between the root and gum. The laser helps in sealing the pocket so that no new germs can enter. The connective tissue reattaches to the clean root surface, which creates a "closed system" that is resistant to new infection. To complete LANAP™, Dr. Eck adjusts bite trauma. Gum disease is eliminated; new gum attachment is regenerated; new bone and new ligaments are formed; and thorough healing takes place. And all of this is accomplished without any of the trauma of traditional gum treatment methods!

Dr. Eck has appeared on the local CBS WINK news network to provide a professional view on Laser Gum Therapy and LANAP™. To learn more about LANAP™ and laser dentistry, Naples and Fort Myers residents can contact our Bonita Springs office. If you have bleeding or painful gums, or if you have already been diagnosed with periodontal disease, schedule an evaluative appointment today with Dr. Eck and let him show you how "no scalpel – no suture" Laser Gum Therapy can provide the solution to restoring your dental health.

Invisalign® Invisible Braces

For our patients who have been troubled by the appearance of their teeth alignment but do not wish to wear traditional metal braces, Invisalign® invisible braces offer an exceptional solution. The Invisalign® system employs clear plastic "aligners" to gradually move your teeth permanently into proper alignment. The aligners are nearly invisible, so they don't detract from your appearance as metal braces can. In addition, they can be easily removed while you eat and brush your teeth.

Your Invisalign® treatment will take about a year to complete. You'll wear a series of custom-molded aligners that will change as the alignment of your teeth improves. Every six to eight weeks, you'll visit Dr. Eck for adjustments and to check your progress. Dr. Eck will prescribe the number of aligners necessary to give you optimal results. If you have put off getting treatment for misaligned teeth because you just don't want to go through the inconveniences of metal braces, the Invisalign® system is the answer you seek. Almost undetectable and quickly removable for flossing and brushing, Invisalign® invisible braces offer an aesthetic and convenient way to achieve a beautiful smile.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Metal fillings can mar the appearance of an otherwise beautifully white smile. The dark color of metal fillings draws the eye and detracts from a smile's attractiveness. Dr. Eck can repair cavities with aesthetically pleasing tooth-colored fillings so closely matched to the surrounding tooth that they are virtually undetectable.

Tooth-colored fillings are created from tough, durable plastics called composite resins that are hardened using laser dentistry. Our Fort Myers and Naples patients have found that these fillings offer several benefits over traditional metal fillings. Because the composite resin bonds so well to the tooth and actually strengthens the tooth structure, Dr. Eck can leave more of the healthy tooth intact when removing a cavity. The composite resin's bond to the tooth seals out bacteria as well, helping to ensure the health of the tooth. As an added benefit, tooth-colored fillings will never expand and crack a tooth as metal fillings can.

Cosmetically and functionally, tooth-colored fillings are far superior to metal fillings. They enhance the beauty of a smile rather than detract from it, and they improve tooth strength. Dr. Eck color matches the tooth-colored fillings carefully and accurately so that your smile appears as though it never had a cavity filled. If you have existing metal fillings and would like to greatly enhance your smile, Dr. Eck can also remove old metal fillings and replace them with virtually undetectable tooth-colored fillings for a beautifully white and appealing smile.

Endodontics — Root Canal Treatment

Within each tooth is a soft core called the dental pulp. Sometimes the dental pulp becomes diseased or damaged and endodontic treatment, also known as a root canal, becomes necessary to save the tooth and prevent further dental complications such as infection and bone loss. In endodontic treatment, Dr. Eck carefully removes the diseased or damaged dental pulp, cleans and shapes the pulp canal, and seals the tooth. In a subsequent appointment, the affected tooth is usually covered with a porcelain crown.

In the past, a root canal was an involved process that took multiple appointments to complete. Now with modern equipment and new techniques, Dr. Eck can complete a root canal in just one visit. Contrary to popular belief, endodontic treatment performed under local anesthetic has little discomfort. However, Dr. Eck offers sedation dentistry to all his Naples, Fort Myers and Bonita Springs patients who prefer a completely comfortable endodontic experience.

Bonita Springs Dental Care is a full-service dental practice. We serve you and strive to give you the best, most complete service possible. Contact us today to begin receiving the top-quality dental care you deserve.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

When wisdom teeth come in straight and remain healthy, they are an asset. However, often wisdom teeth come in crooked, are too large for the mouth to accommodate, or are unable to break through the gum and become impacted. When any of these problems occur, Dr. Eck will perform a wisdom tooth extraction to prevent other problems such as pain and infection that can develop when wisdom teeth are left untreated. Our Bonita Springs dentist can use a local anesthetic for treating a wisdom tooth that has emerged from the gum. However, when a wisdom tooth requires more extensive work, Dr. Eck may use sedation dentistry to enhance the patient's comfort.

Dr. Eck offers a full range of dental solutions, including dental implants and laser dentistry, so that our Naples and Fort Myers patients can achieve optimal dental health. To experience the warm, personalized care that our highly skilled dentist provides each of his patients, contact our office in Bonita Springs today.

Pregnancy and Oral Health

During pregnancy, many women find themselves snacking on foods of all sorts between meals. This can encourage the growth of plaque and lead to tooth decay. Elevated hormone levels during pregnancy cause the body to react to plaque more dramatically than usual, and this often leads to periodontal problems that cause the gums to become red and swollen and bleed during brushing. Also, during the second trimester, excess gum tissue called "pregnancy tumors" appears, usually as a response to the irritation caused by plaque. In addition, severe periodontal disease has been linked to early delivery, so attention to dental care during pregnancy is essential. If gum problems do occur during pregnancy, Dr. Eck can treat them quickly and effectively using laser dentistry procedures.

Regular checkups with Dr. Eck before, during, and after pregnancy will ensure that any dental problems are caught and treated before they develop into major issues. Dr. Eck will provide information and advice for maintaining dental health throughout pregnancy and will carefully monitor the health of your teeth as your baby develops.
